This is the position of the linkage with the gear locked down. The servo here was eventually replaced with a Hitec HS85 metal geared ball bearing servo for higher torque and durability. The aileron servo goes in the empty slot next to it.

From the top, the linkage position with gear up, notice that the linkage places no torque on the servo arm in this position.
