The motor mount was originally designed for a speed 400 gearbox with side flange mounts like on a glow engine.  This was later changed to the present speed 280 configuration with ear mounts after it was determined that the s400 was too much.  1/8" ply and spruce is used and ties into the landing gear block for strength.
