Sig  KADET
                        Senior

Well, the Senior is so well known, everybody has had one right? What can I say. This one is electric and flies as good as anyone could ask for. I'll just tell you about the conversion specs:

Wingspan  82.5" (extended)
Wing area About 1300 square inches including added ailerons
Weight  With 16 RC2400 cells, 7.6 lbs
Wing loading About 13.5 oz/sqft
Motor Aveox 1412/4Y brushless
Gearbox Kruse 2:1 inner driven #5310
ESC Aveox M260
Battery 16 to 20 RC2000 or 2400 cells
Propeller APC 16x10 slim electric
Radio gear
  • FMA "Extreme 5" 5 channel RX
  • 4 Hitec HS422 servos
  • UBEC (Ultimate BEC)
Custom features
  • Extended wing
  • Reduced dihedral to 1/2 of plan
  • Added ailerons
  • Converted from rubber banded to bolt on wing
  • Converted landing gear to tail dragger
  • Hand made carbon fiber landing gear
  • Pull-pull rudder control.
The Aveox motor with Kruse gearbox is strapped down to an AeroVee aluminum mount. It was necessary to add a strut to help prevent torque from twisting the motor and help keep it in the plane
The landing gear was hand laid from carbon fiber. It weighs only 3 ounces but would probably support a model of twice the weight as this Senior.

This plane is one of my all time favorites. It has flown for more than 30 minutes in a single flight on only 16 cells, yet can leap into the air from a 10 foot roll on the runway and climb with nearly unlimited vertical on 20 cells. It is very relaxing to fly though because of its easy handling. The huge tranparent red Monokote wing looks beautiful when it catches the sun. Despite the size I can fly it within in a very small radius of area. The problem is with landing it though because it just wants to keep floating the whole lenght of the runway. Nothing flies like a Senior!
