'X-175'
70% SCALE-DOWN OF X-250

At first look you might not tell this from an X250. That's because it's nearly an exact scale down from the X250 plans. This project was inspired by having some smaller carbon fiber tubes on hand for the wing spars and a surplus of 280 size motors. It's scratch built and only cost about $10 for everything except radio and motor. At first I flew it with a direct drive Speed 280. It flew but it was underpowered. Now it goes great with a geared 280BB

This plane is a blast to fly! Its really tiny but flies fast! It has great aerobatic capabilities and is very responsive. Because of the small size it gives the illusion of flying faster so its easy to try to fly too slow and stall it. It will ROG from a hard surface in about 30-40 feet. It will loop from level flight but you need to let it reach speed first. I think a different prop chosen for thrust rather than speed will help, but I just used what I had. Also the diameter is limited to about 7 inches for ground clearance if taking off from ground.
